The Issues

There has been a great deal of discussion surrounding the Cannon Falls data center, and I want to address it directly.

If I am elected Mayor, I want everyone to understand one important fact: the data center project is governed by existing agreements, contracts, and legal processes. The Mayor does not have the authority to simply stop a project because of personal opinion. My responsibility would be to uphold the law, protect the interests of our community, and ensure the City operates with integrity.

I also want to be clear that I am neither for nor against the project at this time. Like many residents, I still have questions, and I don't believe it's responsible to take a firm position without having all of the facts. My commitment is to listen, ask the difficult questions, and make decisions based on accurate information rather than emotion or speculation.

If elected, I will be as transparent as legally possible. Whenever information can be shared without violating contractual or legal obligations, I will make sure our residents have access to it. The people of Cannon Falls deserve open communication and honest leadership.

While the data center has become a major topic of conversation, my vision for Cannon Falls extends far beyond this single project. I want to see our community continue to grow responsibly by attracting new businesses, supporting the local businesses that already call Cannon Falls home, creating opportunities for families, and bringing more visitors to our community. Economic growth should strengthen our local economy while preserving the character and values that make Cannon Falls such a special place.

Whether you support the data center, oppose it, or are still undecided, I respect your opinion and want to hear your perspective. As Mayor, my door will always be open because the best decisions are made through respectful conversation, transparency, and accountability.

Together, we can continue building a stronger Cannon Falls for generations to come.

Affordable housing is an important part of a healthy and growing community, and I support creating housing options that allow young families, seniors, and working individuals to continue calling Cannon Falls home.

At the same time, I believe there needs to be balance.

When developers request tax incentives or public assistance, it's reasonable to expect something in return. Those incentives should benefit not only the developer but also the residents of Cannon Falls. Whether that's paying their fair share over time, investing in public infrastructure, supporting parks or community amenities, or contributing in other meaningful ways, there should be a clear benefit to our community.

Economic development and affordable housing don't have to be opposing ideas. We can welcome growth while also being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars. Every proposal should be evaluated on its own merits, with transparency, accountability, and the long-term interests of Cannon Falls residents in mind.

As Mayor, I will support responsible development that strengthens our community, expands housing opportunities, and ensures taxpayers receive real value when public incentives are involved.
